Eagle Hill Consulting hosted its 1st annual seminar, “Building and Implementing an Effective Strategic Plan in the Communications and Media Industries,” on July 28, 2009 at the Tower Club in Vienna, VA. In attendance were executives from National Geographic, The Washington Post, Sprint, Verizon, PBS, PointAbout, Sirius|XM, and many others across the communications, media, and technology industries. Companies are being forced to rethink their business strategies to adapt to the ever-changing landscape driven by technology advances, distribution advances, and economic conditions. The seminar focused on how to successfully implement a strategic plan in the current market environment and was designed to provide executives with the tools needed to set the right goals and objectives and translate them into a working plan that the entire organization can execute successfully.
Eagle Hill, along with a panel of seasoned industry experts across the communications, media, and technology industries, shared their real work experience and best thinking about planning for the unknown future, shifting organizational focus, and making hard decisions in today’s current environment. The following four key executives participated in the panel discussion: Wade Alt, VP of Corporate Strategy, NeuStart; Mike Kelley, VP of Content Strategy & Operations, PBS; Chris Marentis, CEO of GenNext Media, LLC and former CEO of Clearspring; Tom Somers, VP of Strategic Initiatives, Gannett Broadcasting. “Eagle Hill’s seminar highlighted the key issues that many organizations in the communications and media industries face,” said Mike Kelley, VP of Content Strategy & Operations at PBS. “Today, more than ever, organizations are faced with rethinking their business strategies in order to keep up with the ever-changing media landscape,” concluded Kelley.
