CASE STUDY: NONPROFIT

STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION

Business Challenge
A division within a global nonprofit defined a new business strategy for growing their market presence, increasing their funding sources and better achieving their mission. Before they could adopt and implement this new strategy, this nonprofit needed to assess the impact of the new strategy on its existing organization, as well as translate it into day-to-day operating and governance models.

Solution
Eagle Hill worked with this organization to design a new operating and governance model to support their new strategy. Specifically, we worked with our client to:

  • Define Department-Level Missions & Objectives. Eagle Hill first worked with the organization to define the goals and objectives required by each of the departments to support the new divisional strategy. Each of the departments identified specific missions, goals, objectives and indicators to measure success.
  • Design High-Level Processes, Role Descriptions and Governance Structure. Eagle Hill then defined and established several working groups responsible for designing new processes and organizational roles to support the strategy. Eagle Hill facilitated a series of working group sessions to:

    • Identify new processes
    • Identify existing processes requiring changes
    • Inventory all existing organizational roles
    • Determine the required organizational roles to support the new strategy
    • Create role and responsibility descriptions for each of the required positions

Eagle Hill also assisted our client in defining a governance structure for the division including guiding principles, purpose, participants, chairs for each team, roles and responsibilities of each team, decision making scope and escalation procedures.
  • Build Detailed Implementation Plan & Conduct Training. Finally, Eagle Hill developed a detailed implementation plan. We outlined the key tasks, responsible parties and required timelines for our client to use in guiding them through a successful implementation of the new design. Eagle Hill also designed and delivered training to the Division staff on the new structure, high-level processes and roles.

Results Achieved
Eagle Hill assisted this nonprofit in translating their new strategy into an actionable, day-to-day operating model. As a result, our client was able to implement their new strategy in an environment organized around a common mission and vision.
