Business Challenge
As the broadcasting landscape changes with the shift to digital technology and the increasing power of the Internet, this large media organization wanted to change its structure and processes to adapt to the new environment and enable opportunities for multi-platform content distribution. The company brought in a new executive to oversee all of its content development organizations. The company then asked Eagle Hill to help transform the Content organization into an integrated unit that could execute on its multiplatform strategy.
Solution
Eagle Hill assisted the organization in determining how to address this
new environment and executed the change management, stakeholder management
and training required to support a successful transition. Working with
the client, we developed an organizational strategy to consolidate the
five departments involved in content management into a single integrated
department.
This work involved developing the organizational strategy and the detailed organizational design for the resulting organizational structure that would bring the departments together. Some of the key aspects of the organizational design included the:
As a result of the organizational design, we reengineered several of the key content processes including content review and approval and budgeting. Our change management team developed an implementation plan that phased in the delivery of the new organization and new processes. After the design was approved by management, we led the effort to set up the new organization.
Results Achieved
The work resulted in the successful formation of a new organization empowered
to make integrated content decisions for the entire organization. This
also included the development of a new integrated content budgeting process that provides for integrated multi-platform budgeting with actual vs. budget comparisons.
